Pharmacy Technician

June 2016 - August 2019 • Cartersville, GA

What I liked

I liked that I learned about many medications and what they do and how the prescription gets processed. As a prospective med school student it made me aware to the issues I will need to address to make sure all prescriptions for patients are processed safely and efficiently.

What I wish was different

The pace was very quick with drive Thru service and I wish I had worked more outside of the drive Thru talking to patients in the store.

Advice

It’s very fast paced, you are on your feet for the day, you learn a lot of information, and you’ll be working in a team oriented environment so you need to be working together and it’s important to help other technicians if you are free. There is always something to do and help with!

Photo Tech

June 2017 • Scottsdale, AZ

What I liked

The experience in retail is invaluable. It taught me what exceptional and efficient leadership looks like in a company that offers minimal resources for their general managers to keep talent. I learned a great deal about what leadership styles work for certain personality types, and which styles do not. I was also inspired by the resourcefulness of both the G.M (Anthony Affronti) and and the assistant manager (James Mendoza) to encourage growth in their employees and further engage with Walgreen's customers.

What I wish was different

Nothing. It is pivotal to work alongside others in a "grunt" position to better understand what their needs and wants are in comparison to the priorities of leadership. This is how I plan to become a more proficient leader in the future, to better build bridges with my employees.

Advice

All big businesses are built from the bottom up, like a pyramid. The "little guy" needs to be understood and cared for to build a truly effective team as a leader. An effective team builds the stable foundation necessary for a company to thrive.
