Office Assistant

June 2019 • Logan, UT

What I liked

My coworkers are amazing and incredibly helpful. Even though this job has a lot of new elements, I never feel like I have to figure it out on my own. I have been able to see the administrative side of research, which has given me a whole new outlook on how "science" actually works.

What I wish was different

Some days there was a lot to do and went by fast, other days were really slow. Consistency would have been nice.

Advice

As I have learned in this job, trying new things and not knowing how to do something can be really hard, but chances are there is at least one person around you is willing to help you. Learning how to say "I don't know" and think on your feet as to how you can find out is a valuable skill I have gained from this job.

Undergraduate Researcher

May 2019 • Logan, UT

What I liked

I love working with Dr. Hevel in the biochemistry lab. It is so worth the experience regardless of pay. I still continue to learn so much every day. Not only is the research great, but I love the people I work with. It has easily been one of my best experiences at Utah State. I would highly recommend getting involved in research to other students. I will continue this internship for as long as I’m here in school because I enjoy it that much.

What I wish was different

I wish the school would offer opportunities to just meet up and hangout with random people each week at different times. Not many people stay in town so it would be nice to have a chance to socialize more. Everyone should be invited to allow more networking opportunities.

Advice

Summer classes are so worth the time and tuition. Logan has a beautiful summer landscape
