Store Management Intern

June 2022 • Leesburg, VA

What I liked

I love how supportive, kind, and caring the entire team is! Everyday I learn something new, and it's really rewarding to see my personal and professional growth compared to when I first started. I also like how much autonomy they give me to choose what it is I want to accomplish, where I want to spend time with for the day. Everyone is also really awesome with answering my questions and helping me with my tasks.

What I wish was different

I wish there were clearer plans and expectations for each day (or that those plans were communicated better). I also wish I got to spend more time side-by-side with the ETLs.

Advice

Try out different tasks and projects, and look at the big picture of why they're important to the store's success. Reach out to the team when you need help, and get to know the store's strengths and opportunities. Definitely spend time learning more about your team members, team leads, and executive team leads. Many have been in their roles for a long time so they are knowledgeable, and having good relationships with them will make the experience all the better.

Fulfillment Expert

May 2021 - August 2022 • Brentwood, TN

What I liked

I liked the flexibility of the schedule and hours. The overtime pay and relatively high starting rate were also great!

What I wish was different

I wish that the job responsibilities were more clearly organized. I was employed under a certain title, but I did something new every day for different departments that needed assistance.

Advice

Flexibility and responsibility are essential for this position. It is a challenging position at first because there is so much to learn, but as time goes on the position gets a lot easier as you learn expectations and the layout of the store.

Financial Analyst Intern

April - June 2022 • Minneapolis, MN

What I liked

I liked the hospitality and well thought out intern program. Throughout the internship, there was always someone to help in anything and they were very transparent. Target's work culture was inclusive and prioritized our wellbeing. Outstanding job done for virtual and in-person week.

What I wish was different

I wished that the in-person week we had was in the beginning instead of the end of the internship. It would have made my project prompt less ambiguous and knowledgable.

Advice

Be yourself. A lot of individual meetings with everyone in the corporate and being candid helps make the day go by faster.
