Camp Counselor

June 2012 - July 2019 • Lafayette, LA

What I liked

The children are funny people. Seeing a change of shy students when the summer starts, to being bright and bold when the camp ends.

What I wish was different

I wish I didn't work as much. I work work here from 8-5:30, then work nights from 6-11pm and weekends. I didn't give my all to the kids because some days I would come exhausted.

Advice

If you do not like kids, do not work at a camp. Kids are hilarious, but the need to know/see some one cares for them. Not someone who is just there for a check.

Pre-Vet Intern

June - August 2019 • Okinawa Shi, Okinawa Prefecture

What I liked

What I liked about Japan was the learning experience of course. I learned about the different vaccinations and procedures following animals being transported over seas by people in the military.

Advice

One piece of advice I could share about my experience is leaving your comfort zone. Where you are comfortable is where you are unwilling to change. Traveling over seas and being able to adapt to a different environment and working around a language barrier helped me become a better student of medicine.
