October 2017 - July 2018 • St. Johns, FL

What I liked

The crew that I worked with was probably the best crew I ever worked with in my years of work experience. We all got along (for the most part.) We helped each other out and supported one another. There are some to this day that I am friends with outside of work.

What I wish was different

I wish there were more opportunities for crew members (including myself,) to work and gain experience in other departments. However, the only way this would happen was if we had more crew members. A lot of times, we didn't have enough people during certain shifts to allow other crew members the opportunity to broaden their skills in various areas.

Advice

My advice that I have taken away from this experience would be to have fun while you're there, interact with the customers and your coworkers in a positive light and all should be well. Especially if you do your part and help others the best you can, anyone who works here should be fine. Effective communication plays a big part in your success as well. If you need help with completing a task, or your not sure how to operate a machine or finish a product, ask for help. If you need a couple days off, make sure to give appropriate notice as that will create less conflicts in your life and the other people that you work with.

Mcdonald's employee

May - July 2018 • Grand Junction, CO

What I liked

I liked most of my co-workers, they were very friendly.

What I wish was different

I could never get enough hours, the management was very bad, and the safety standars in the store were very low. I burned my self multiple times and nothing was done about it.

Advice

Don't work for employers that don't care about your personal safety.

Cashier

June - August 2018 • Lincoln City, OR

What I liked

I enjoyed serving customers and making them happy.

What I wish was different

I wish my managers were more flexible to what the customers need. Context: the McDonald's establishment I was working in started using the new kiosks where people can order from instead of the front counter. However, I noticed that not a lot of customers use them and would instead start large lines for ordering/paying at the front counter; they prefer to talk to an actual person about their order rather than a machine. In spite of this, my managers kept instilling me and the other coworkers to have the customers order at the kiosks.

Advice

Listen to your favorite music before starting work! It helps build up positivity and enthusiasm, and it also helps cheer up coworkers if they see you being positive!

Finance Intern

May - August 2018 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

I loved this internship! I had the opportunity to do a lot of real, entry-level work. The people there were very friendly and always willing to tell me about their own experiences and help me learn. I also got to spend time talking with people in high-up leadership positions, including the Controller and CFO.

What I wish was different

Advice

Talk to as many people about what they do as you can! Pretty much everyone has a different role, and it's cool to see how those roles relate to each other and to learn what different people do. The people are a great resource for getting advice.

The kindness and sympathy that I received, not only from the coworker, but customers as well.

What I wish was different

Larger amount of staff members.

Advice

Be patient, be humble and courteous, and still stand up for yourself - if it is justified. However, do not let your anger or emotions get the better of you, be slow to anger and quick to forgive.

McDonald's Employee

June - August 2018 • St. George, UT

What I liked

They gave you a free meal a day. They were also pretty flexible with working aorund my schedule.

What I wish was different

The environment of the workplace was not that good. Half of the management was great and helpful, but the other half we're not very personable or kind. The upkeep of our specific building wasn't good and many of our machines would break on a regular basis.

Advice

It's a lot of hard, monotonous work if you're in a busy area. You have to be on your feet and constantly ready for an influx of people. Not especially fun.

Shift Manager

June 2015 • Melbourne, FL

What I liked

I loved going back. I love my upper management and the people that I work with. It was a great learning experience being a manager.

What I wish was different

I wish that I got paid more. Its a good wage for me, but for the work of a manager, especially in the jobs that I was specifically given, I wish I got more to save up.

Advice

People want a job but don't want to work for it. Don't be one of those people.

What I wish was different

I wish that the pay was different and that I could work as much as I wanted.

Fast Food Worker

August 2017 • Cheney, WA

What I liked

It's fun to work at a fast food restaurant because you're constantly doing something. People who have a lot of energy and don't like sitting around would most likely enjoy working at a McDonald's.

What I wish was different

It can get stressful, but that's all part of the job.

Advice

Try to learn how to work with each manager. Different people have different opinions on how certain things should be done, and it may get frustrating, but try to keep a level head when learning who likes what.
