McDonalds

McDonald's Employee

June - August 2018 • St. George, UT

What I liked

They gave you a free meal a day. They were also pretty flexible with working aorund my schedule.

What I wish was different

The environment of the workplace was not that good. Half of the management was great and helpful, but the other half we're not very personable or kind. The upkeep of our specific building wasn't good and many of our machines would break on a regular basis.

Advice

It's a lot of hard, monotonous work if you're in a busy area. You have to be on your feet and constantly ready for an influx of people. Not especially fun.

What I liked

The kindness and sympathy that I received, not only from the coworker, but customers as well.

What I wish was different

Larger amount of staff members.

Advice

Be patient, be humble and courteous, and still stand up for yourself - if it is justified. However, do not let your anger or emotions get the better of you, be slow to anger and quick to forgive.

Crew Trainer

May 2017 - August 2018 • Winter Haven, FL

What I liked

I liked my co-workers and the fast paced environment.

What I wish was different

I wish customers would have been nicer, but I know not everyone has good days.

Advice

I think working in fast food is a great experience that everyone should try because you meet so many people and learn to deal with people who may not be so nice.

Cashier

November 2017 - July 2018 • Colville, WA

What I liked

I loved how nice some of the customers could be and I loved getting to know and work with such a variety of people.

What I wish was different

I wish that more customers would have been kinder and I wish the leadership could have been structured better.

Advice

Be kind, be patient, and understand that everyone makes mistakes. Also always ask for help if you don't understand something. Even if you feel dumb it will help you greatly in the long run.

Finance Intern

May - August 2018 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

I loved this internship! I had the opportunity to do a lot of real, entry-level work. The people there were very friendly and always willing to tell me about their own experiences and help me learn. I also got to spend time talking with people in high-up leadership positions, including the Controller and CFO.

What I wish was different

Advice

Talk to as many people about what they do as you can! Pretty much everyone has a different role, and it's cool to see how those roles relate to each other and to learn what different people do. The people are a great resource for getting advice.

Mcdonald's employee

May - July 2018 • Grand Junction, CO

What I liked

I liked most of my co-workers, they were very friendly.

What I wish was different

I could never get enough hours, the management was very bad, and the safety standars in the store were very low. I burned my self multiple times and nothing was done about it.

Advice

Don't work for employers that don't care about your personal safety.

Crew Member

October 2017 - July 2018 • St. Johns, FL

What I liked

The crew that I worked with was probably the best crew I ever worked with in my years of work experience. We all got along (for the most part.) We helped each other out and supported one another. There are some to this day that I am friends with outside of work.

What I wish was different

I wish there were more opportunities for crew members (including myself,) to work and gain experience in other departments. However, the only way this would happen was if we had more crew members. A lot of times, we didn't have enough people during certain shifts to allow other crew members the opportunity to broaden their skills in various areas.

Advice

My advice that I have taken away from this experience would be to have fun while you're there, interact with the customers and your coworkers in a positive light and all should be well. Especially if you do your part and help others the best you can, anyone who works here should be fine. Effective communication plays a big part in your success as well. If you need help with completing a task, or your not sure how to operate a machine or finish a product, ask for help. If you need a couple days off, make sure to give appropriate notice as that will create less conflicts in your life and the other people that you work with.
