Jacksonville Teacher Residency (JTR) is a teacher preparation program that prepares STEM graduates to become math or science teachers in Jacksonville, Florida’s underserved middle and high schools. Residents complete a yearlong teaching apprenticeship under the guidance of a mentor teacher while concurrently completing a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from UNF. Upon completion of the program, residents are placed in full-time jobs as teachers of record in Jacksonville’s high-needs schools. Since its inception in 2015, JTR has prepared nearly 30 new teachers for Duval County. As a NSF Noyce Teaching Fellowship program, JTR Noyce Fellows receive up to $60,000 of support during this five-year teacher preparation and induction program.
