My favorite thing about working with ATS, is the culture of the office and the people I work with. Going into this internship, I didn't know a single thing about the transportation industry. ATS had an extremely well set up training program to help all of the interns learn about the industry and get us prepped and ready for the summer. Everyone in the office is so willing to help you learn and answer all of your questions. They immediately made me feel welcome within the first day of me being there.
Additionally, I really enjoyed how organized and well put together the summer internship was. Every week, me and the other interns got to sit down with other departments (marketing, sales, accounting, HR, IT, etc. ) and learn about what they do within the ATS business. It was a great opportunity to learn about how the business departments all work together and allow us to explore our interests outside of operations to see if that is something we would like to do in the future.
What I wish was different
While I absolutely loved my experience with this internship, the one thing I wish would have been different is having more opportunity to spend time and shadow other departments. Though we did get to spend an hour chatting with different departments every week over at corporate, being able to shadow them for an afternoon would have allowed us to see what they do a little more in depth.
Advice
The one piece of advice I would give to someone starting this internship or to any new hire with ATS is to ask questions, no matter how silly you may think it is. 80% of the people working with ATS don't have any prior knowledge of the transportation industry, so most people know how it feels to start out and be confused at times.

What I liked
The atmosphere and people at ATS is nothing like I expected. I came in thinking this would be another desk job where I sit and don't talk to people, but I noticed very quickly that the atmosphere is light and fun. People are working hard and succeeding, yet having a good time while doing so. These people care about you. Not only are all of these people my co-workers, but they are also my friends. ATS is a family.
What I wish was different
I don't wish that anything was different. I have had a fantastic time this summer. The only thing that I would have like to add would have been an intern load board. I think that would have been an exciting way to compete with the other interns, and have something that we can call our own.
Advice
Something that I would really like to emphasis on is that this company is so misunderstood. As a trucking company, there are many different stereotypes and judgments. Yet, it is nothing like I expected. I was leery about working here for that same reason as well, but it was quickly proven that they have so much more to offer. The people, the atmosphere, everything, has exceeded my expectations.

What I liked
I liked the atmosphere of the company. The employees are friendly and are willing to help you learn the industry of trucking. Also, with the internship, we met with different sections within the company and learn about them. Giving us a good look at the entire company and what their day to days look like along with how they help the company as a whole.
What I wish was different
I wish that the internship allowed to allow me to grow within the job a little bit more. After the first month or so I felt like I hit a wall in the internship and the role I had. I would've liked to expand my role in the company a little bit more.
Advice
My advise to you is that if you don't know quite what you want to do after college, this internship would be a good start. Maybe the transportation industry is for you. If not, the internship gives you exposure to many soft skills that translate to any other field of work.
