I thoroughly enjoyed being able to research current and relevant issues while preparing briefing reports for the program moderators. Doing so gave me the opportunity to gain knowledge of hot topics in global politics that I otherwise wouldn't have a very comprehensive understanding of solely based on my studies at USF in the International Studies major where you must narrow your field of study (understandably) by selecting a region and concentration.
What I wish was different
I wish I could have worked in the role longer. There is nothing I would change about my experience working in the office or during the programs. All the employees are wonderfully motivated and hardworking people with diverse backgrounds, and the speakers and moderators invited to host the programs are even more so.
Advice
My advice to anyone who is interested in an internship such as this one is to take advantage of everything that is at your fingertips being part of an organization like World Affairs. I recommend attending any & all programs that even mildly interest you. Regardless of whether the subject is your desired area of expertise, the conversations always bring the topic full circle to its developments in the modern globalized world., The speakers brought in and the moderators who guide the conversations are incredibly influential people in their respective fields of study who are happy to share their experiences with you if you take the time to ask.
