I really enjoyed the experience, duties required, and people. It was a very good experience for my major and gave me an idea of what rehabbing wildlife is like. I learned so much about animals, rehabilitation, and even San Juan Island history. The staff and fellow interns were so fun to work with.
What I wish was different
I wish there hadn't been a pandemic during the time, but that was out of everybody's control. I'm glad I got to still have the internship. I wish there had been a little more training beforehand and better communication.
Advice
I recommend applying for this internship regardless if you don't know if you want to do rehab. It's good experience and could help you get job. Even if you're unsure about wildlife rehab, this experience can either confirm you do or don't. All of the animals are so cool to work with and the staff is super knowledgeable/friendly. You're also on a very pretty island. I highly recommend applying for this internship! Good luck!
