Founded in 1933, Wilkes University is a private, co-ed, comprehensive institution. The university is located in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Wilkes-Barre is located in Northeastern Pennsylvania, on the western edge of the Pocono Mountains Region. It is the county seat of Luzerne County and has a population of about 50,000 people.Our campus encompasses thirty-five acres and includes eight academic buildings, 20 residence halls, nine administrative buildings, the Eugene S. Farley Library, the Henry Student Center, Annette Evans Alumni and Faculty House, Sordoni Art Gallery, Burns Alumni Bell Tower and Carillon, Dorothy Dickson Darte Center for the Performing Arts, President's Home, Arnaud C. Marts Sports and Conference Center (with the Frank M. and Dorothea Henry Gymnasium), Ralston Field Athletic Sports Complex, Munson Fieldhouse, and the Allan P. Kirby Center for Free Enterprise and Entrepreneurship.
