eCommerce Intern

May - September 2023 • Appleton, WI

What I liked

Werner Electric is a fantastic place to intern! As an eCommerce intern, I was able to learn a lot in the short time working there as well as the interns do valuable work. All the people there are very welcoming and excited to work with the interns. As scary as it can be going into the presentation at the end of the summer it truly does pay off, and it is cool to be able to tell other employees what you have been working on. Everyone is that room is truly interested in what you have to say.

What I wish was different

One thing that I wish could have been different was just to have some more informal lunches with the other interns. I was a part of one intern lunch and I had a lot of fun being able to talk with them all about things other than work.

Advice

One piece of advice I'd give to new interns is to be a sponge. Take in and learn everything you possibly can. Learn about different areas in your department and if you want to look at a different department do it!

Accounts Payable Intern

June 2022 • Appleton, WI

What I liked

I really like the culture here at Werner. Everyone is very willing to lend a hand or to direct you to the right place where your questions can be answered. I really liked the independence of the role while still knowing my questions are welcomed. Being able to present on our work and individual projects to the executive team was a really great opportunity as well. Lastly, being able to work with the other 13 interns on a group project was great because it allowed for networking and working with people my age.

What I wish was different

The only thing I can think of for a difference would be the pay because starting wages are becoming a lot more competitive.

Advice

Branch out and learn as much as you can about how a business operates and ask to job shadow roles that interest you. Werner is a great company to learn from, and the employees are willing to teach and give you their time.
