Store Manager Intern

What I liked

I like that they gave you a lot of responsibilities. You worked with the store manager but also had freedom to offer changes you think would benefit the company and store. They had a lot of training programs and walk throughs with different people in different positions throughout the company, whether it be senior specialists or district managers. During the last week you go to their corporate offices for a week and see how the company is ran from a corporate view and shadowing different people in the corporate setting.

What I wish was different

At times there wasn't always something new to do and it felt repetitive. It felt like some of our skills were going to waste and sometimes had to do the dirty work like working throughout the departments and help bag groceries if there was a busy rush.

Advice

You have some power being a manager, don't be scared to use it. If you see someone doing something wrong don't hesitate to tell them.

I liked working with people. I liked my coworkers. I liked doing different jobs aside from cashiering. I got a lot of work experience.

I wish I had more breaks and had a higher pay.

Advice

Retail is not for everyone. Managing the stress of a retail job can be a lot for some people, so you should keep that in mind when applying for retail positions.

The hours they gave me, were more than enough to make good money. They were extremely flexible with my schedule.

The work became tedious because there wasn't a whole lot of variation on a day to day basis.

Advice

If you decide to apply for this job, remember to lift with your legs and save your back. You will be lifting on average 30 to 50 lbs.

Would have liked to learn more about the excel functions they use, SQL coding, and Microsoft access databases.
