-Hands on experience with nonprofit operations
-Small team
-Able to work both independently and collaboratively
-The work I was doing was genuinely helpful for the organization and myself as a developing professional-I wasn't making coffee runs, I was learning their databases, donor relations systems, etc.
What I wish was different
I wish I would have been able to adjust my schedule so I would've been able to continue working with WEA. It was such a wonderful experience, and I think continuing my work with them would have been great and refined some of the skills I was learning
Advice
Even though the internship was unpaid, the experience I gained was priceless. I was working in the field that I hope to go into once I graduate, and was given a lot of responsibility as an intern, I was doing projects that were genuinely helping the organization and it was super beneficial experience for me. So don't shy away from unpaid internships.
