I love that it gives me the opportunity to practice communication. You have to learn how to talk to children of all ages as well as their parents! Patience is a huge aspect in teaching especially how to swim.
What I wish was different
I wish that they are more lenient with schedules. Since I am a student, events are posted a week in advance; however, the company expects a month in-advance notice. They are not understanding of sicknesses and after 5 days they will make you go to work sick.
Advice
This is the type of job that you will love or hate. Make sure you are mentally, emotionally, and physically ready to take on this work.

What I liked
The results and my students. Each one grew as a swimmer and gained confidence, had fun swimming, and looked forward to coming to practice.

The corporate/management structure.
Advice
Concentrate on helping each student, it will be fulfilling and outweigh the drawbacks of cold water, pay, and other frustrations.
