I liked that I was able to do something that I truly love to do and get paid for it. Being involved with lacrosse and having the privelege to referee games and recieve compensation almost didn't feel like a job.
What I wish was different
One of the necessary evils of refereeing lacrosse games is the travel distances. I often was driving 2+ hours each way every night to get to games to referee.
Advice
I would like to tell new referees that it is a challenging yet rewarding job experience. The more time you stick with the job, the more knowledge and wisdom you gain, and you are able to facilitate games easier.
