The people at my store are amazing. My department functions as one happy little family. We look out for each other, give advise, and praise each other when appropriate for anything in life.

Sometimes management is very frustrating. I wish they would listen to the associates more, but management is a problem everywhere.

Advice

Check out your local Walmart if you need a job. They have received a lot of backlash in the media, but I love my job

I liked that I was able to use what I learned in school and apply it to my first job within my major.

What I wish was different

I wished that I was told beforehand that I was going to be crossed trainer in the deli while I worked there. If I had know that beforehand I would have reconsidered the position because I just wanted bakery experience.

Advice

Don’t take this job if you aren’t a morning person and not willing to be cross trained in other departments.

I wish the hours for my shift were a lot shorter because I was practically there for 3/4 of a day almost everyday except for Monday, Thursday, and Sunday.

It has good pay for a college job and does give you a lot of experience in the health care field.

What I wish was different

Location and work load. Clientele in the location is not ideal and the workload can be high depending on the time of the year.

Advice

Be willing to learn new things, it does take some time to get used to. Working in the retail health field you will have to be prepared to meet and take care of some patients that are frustrated and angry.

What I liked

Great managers, clean environment. Messes were dealt with promptly. Customers are understanding when one is a new employee. Taught decently.

What I wish was different

I kept finding out tips of things that feel important enough to be included in training, but was not. Could not always communicate with the managers, and apparently they have a hard time communicating with different departments. I wish they'd be able to message us back at our terminals. Sometimes coworkers would just not listen to a manager, and then a thing would not get done. That was annoying to deal with.
