Utah Hematology Oncology PC

Nursing Assistant

March - August 2020 • Layton, UT

What I liked

I enjoyed working in healthcare at a time of uncertainty within the health community, it made me feel like I was a help to the community. I also loved the experiences I had and the ability to work with many different type of people. I enjoyed being able to have many different coworkers, to learn new skills and to work with different patients.

What I wish was different

I wish there were more stability with hours, I expect with the summer that sometimes the schedule will be a little crazy but I did want more consistent hours than I was given. I also would have liked the organization of the office to be different, I felt like I worked super hard to keep things like things together and some of my superiors went without any of my opinions and changed the layout of everything. I also wish there would be someone the nurses could share complaints with, because too often it was me who was not qualified for that kind of confrontation.

Advice

I would tell others not to be scared to speak up to your superiors about problems, concerns and issues at work, do not just sweep them under the rug. Even if you are a lower position it does not mean your problems are smaller or of less importance.
