Landscape Architecture Extension Intern

May 2020 • Logan, UT

What I liked

Great diversity of projects, and I got to learn a lot of new skills that I may not have learned in a private practice internship. I enjoyed seeing the educational and outreach sides of the landscape architecture profession. I also got to take on some leadership on projects!

What I wish was different

I wish we could have done a little more refined design, as the nature of our projects usually stayed in the concept phase. However, I got to learn more about research, education, outreach, and concepting because of these projects.

Advice

Take initiative and be an active member of the team and you will get the most out of this internship!

What I wish was different

Advice

Be friendly with your students. The more open and fun you are with them, the more willing they are to listen and to tell you what they need help with. It makes for a better experience if you can establish a rapport with them, and often encourages them to return.
