US Sailing

Youth Department Communications Intern

February 2019 • Bristol, RI

What I liked

I enjoyed how this experience gave me the opportunity to work on many creative projects and publish stories about the happenings within the organization. I was also given the freedom from my supervisors to come up with an editorial agenda through their guidance which allowed me to plan out and publish projects.

What I wish was different

Advice

Students have to advocate for themselves to ensure they are working on projects that align with their career interests.

Project Management Intern

May 2018 • Bristol, RI

What I liked

I had an amazing summer working at US Sailing. I learned so much, and was able to work hands on with many different departments. I was able to work independently, and as well within groups. My thoughts and ideas were valued each day I went to work. I loved how understanding my boss was, and allowing me to have a semi-flexible schedule. I was able to grow a lot in my internship over the summer, and I have been able to continue the experience into my Fall Semester.

What I wish was different

I am still working at US Sailing, and I love it which is why I've stayed. Theres nothing I wish that was different!

Advice

I would advise anyone in this in internship position that asking to take on more projects, and getting involved and immersed in the US Sailing community is so beneficial. Jump right in!
