It was a new experience. I liked the team work and real life application of the skills I learned in training. I enjoyed getting to operate in different environments as well as adapting to the the many problems my job faces.

A bit more organization and prepared planning would have helped smooth the work along.

What I liked
I liked that I was given the freedom to work as a nurse and not constantly have a teaching watching my every move. I liked seeing how a military hospital functions and how it differs from a civilian hospital.
What I wish was different
I wish I would have gone to a larger hospital that offered more critical cases. The hospital I attended was a smaller community hospital because Fort Belvoir is a smaller base.
Advice
I would share that it is a phenomenal experience that I learned a great deal from. It helped me build more confidence with nursing assessments and provided good insight for what my future may look like.
