UPPAbaby

Graphic Design Intern

January 2022 • Rockland, MA

What I liked

You're given a variety of jobs, tasks, and designs to work on which prevents any creative slump or boredom! There are many talented designers that are all more than willing to collaborate or critique your work. It is a relaxed environment and everyone is welcoming and friendly from day one. Whether it is something you have experience in or not, you are given the opportunity to work, learn, and improve design skills. There is no pressure to show up with a wealth of knowledge, they're willing to sit with you and assist you in your learning experience. If you enjoy the quick paced environment, there are plenty of projects to hop on with quick turn around times to keep the flow of projects moving.

What I wish was different

It's been an exceptional experience, I wish I had done more personal research on the company before arriving just to aid myself in understanding the products and different markets. But they do a great job of filling you in and they even go over all the different products with you when you arrive.

Advice

Take on as many projects as you can, especially if it's a design medium you've never worked with before. They allow you to create designs for campaigns and join in their group critiques which are my favorite part of the week! Show up with as many designs as the senior designers, they want to see your work. I, personally, take time to warm up to new creative environments, but everyone in the creative department is encouraging and appreciative of effort. Don't be afraid to jump in, ask questions, and challenge yourself - this is the company to do that at!

International Brand Marketing Intern

May - August 2022 • Rockland, MA

What I liked

UPPAbaby is a midsized company that emphasizes personal growth and development. My two supervisors made it a point to have weekly one-on-one meetings with me, and asked what projects I had an interest in to allow me to make the most out of my time there.

What I wish was different

The internship could have been more organized and structured. The company is fairly new and this reflects in its management.

Advice

During my internship, I was able to see the company grow on an international level and be a part of that growth. One piece of advice I would say is to always go above and beyond what your supervisors ask of you. I was invited back to UPPAbaby because of this quality.
