Data Analyst

May - July 2018 • Pittsburgh, PA

What I liked

I liked the flexibility of my work. I was working on multiple, diverse projects at once during my time at the office, and I found it exciting to be able to jump from one interesting task to the next, quickly. I learned a lot more about how I best manage my time from dictating how long I would spend on each project.

Research crew

April - August 2018 • Fox Chapel, PA

What I liked

The job was hiking all day from 7 in the morning to 4 in the afternoon. We learned how to Id native herbaceous species, and how to use research equipment like Licors for measuring CO2 in plants and chlorophyll content meters. The team was great to work with and we learned a lot!

What I wish was different

I wish it would've lasted longer, maybe being involved in more of the data analysis. I wish there were other plots at different sites to show more variability.

Advice

Stay enthusiastic, always keep a positive attitude and learn as much as you can. I've been using most of the knowledge I gained from this experience in field work and it will go a long way with employers.
