University of Illinois at Chicago

Undergraduate Research Assistant

April 2023 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

I loved being in a lab setting and this gave me an opportunity to take part in sophisticated procedures that have improved my skills in the literary and practical aspect of it

What I wish was different

I wish I was a little more clear on the times I was available. This prevented a little bit of time mismanagement on my part which I have since learned from.

Advice

Always have a growth and learning mindset when learning from your supervisor and colleagues as research work provides a golden opportunity to realize what you want to do in the future.

Member Service Attendant

July 2021 - August 2022 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

I liked the friendly environment that the job provided me and the emphasis on helping each other out whenever one couldn't remember how to perform a task,

What I wish was different

What I wish was different was how communication between the attendants and professional staff was done. I wish that there was a schedule for when the professional staff would be in the facility so then the attendants would know if it is appropriate for us to contact them over the radio.

Advice

Ask many questions as much as possible during orientation and training.
