About UC Davis Center for Health and the Environment

The mission of the Center for Health and the Environment (CHE) is to understand the effect of environmental agents on the health of humans, animals and other organisms.

To achieve this purpose, CHE:
Encourages multidisciplinary research related to environmental exposures and the causes and prevention of adverse health effects.
Facilitates the exchange of information between academic scientists, resource agencies and the public.
Provides research and training opportunities to visiting scholars, graduate and undergraduate students as well as postdoctoral fellows.
Provides specialized research facilities, expertise and equipment to investigators both on and off the UC Davis campus.
CHE is a center of excellence within UC Davis' John Muir Institute of the Environment (JMIE) and an organize research unit under the UC Davis Office of Research.

“I was able to get on hand experience with working with lab animals such as mice. I was able to see the safe procedures that are done in order to ensure the mice are greatly in a safely manner. I was also able to see what it’s like to prep for experiment and then see it be done.”
