Great staff/environment, helping a good cause while expanding upon my IT knowledge, also I was the only IT person there so I got to constantly be on my feet and assist everyone there with IT issues.
What I wish was different
I do wish that there was a monthly stipend or a little compensation of some sort due to the internship being far from my home (to compensate for gas).
Advice
Even though it is unpaid, it is definitely worth it! This company has internships to offer in almost every educational area, and helped me get my new job in cybersecurity!

What I liked
Loved the flexibility that came with the job, had a lot of creative freedom so long as I met the company's standards.
What I wish was different
Wish I got to travel more for the hunger projects. It was more so a conflict of schedules on my part, FCE certainly has a ton of opportunities.
Advice
While it's advertised as a paid internship, only veteran interns (those who have been there for more than one semester) receive the $200 monthly stipend. I didn't receive the stipend until I signed on for the fall, starting in September.

Event Coordinator Internship

What I liked
The Salt Lake team is AMAZING! You get to travel a bunch, which I loved because I hate offices. Even though you aren't paid, most Hunger Projects are hosted on weekends so you can totally get another job during the week and still make money. They do also pay for traveling expenses.
What I wish was different
The internship is more volunteering. I was told that you don't actually get to do event coordination unless you're returning or you do an internship at headquarters after I had already accepted a position with the SLC office. It was still an amazing experience, but as a junior I was looking for something with more depth to help me prepare for life after college.
Advice
If you are a freshman or sophomore (or looking for a fun way to add volunteer hours) FCE is great! But you really need to think of it as volunteering rather than an internship.

What I liked
I really like that I was able to work for a nonprofit. I loved that everything I did was service oriented and gave others the opportunity to serve and give back to their community. I also liked that I was able to travel to new cities.
What I wish was different
I wish that I had been able to travel and do more for this company. They are not that big on the west coast yet so I did not have the opportunity to travel much.

What I liked
The work environment was very friendly and exciting. Every day I would come into work with something new to work on. While expanding on my journalism skills, I was also able to help the community and people all over the world by packaging healthy meals at hunger projects. These hunger projects took place in the work headquarters, or in different areas of the U.S.
What I wish was different
This internship was a volunteer based position and although I loved the work that I was doing, it would have been better if it was paid.
Advice
I would say that you should build as many connections as possible. As a Storyteller Intern, I was able to interview and connect with FCE's CEO for multiple stories. You never know where you're going to be in the future, so making these connections are key.
