Being able to have more social interactions on the Hill

Advice

Definitely network, network, network! Especially since Hill offices generally have Bloomberg Government at their disposal -- you can filter by university attended to find UVA grads and can even filter by specific school within UVA for a few of the upper colleges.

I loved the exposure to the inner workings to the legislative process, and the insider's access to all the cool parts of working in the House-- like using the internal train systems, or getting to give tours.

What I wish was different

I wish I'd been paid!

It's important to take every opportunity available to you, since you never know where you might come across a valuable connection in D.C. Take advantage of the access this job will give you!

What I liked

I liked the experience of working in an official office and meeting the team. I enjoyed working with the Congressman’s schedule as well.

What I wish was different

I wish they would have given me more work, as I often felt underwhelmed with my tasks.
