IT Project Management Intern

June - August 2018 • Washington, DC

What I liked

I gained valuable experience working in the public sector in a government agency and I liked learning about project management with new software systems. We had fantastic opportunities to hear speakers at the Main Treasury Department, access to the entire building, and all of my coworkers were very knowledgable in their fields.

What I wish was different

I wish there could have been better integration between all of the Treasury interns and not just the interns in the Enterprise Business Solutions Group.

Advice

Step out of your comfort zone and try an internship in a field you are unfamiliar with!

Intern in the Office of Economic Policy

May - August 2016 • Washington, DC

What I liked

The office manager is incredibly invested in her interns and goes out of her way to make sure they have a transformative experience. Outside of my research and policy assistant tasks, I was able to frequently attend conferences at think tanks/the Hill and engagement with a variety of professionals in the field through biweekly lunch conversations.

What I wish was different

Advice

Internships are often short, so try to make the most of your time at the organization. Volunteer for tasks early on, and don't be afraid to ask for help.
