Education Policy Intern

August - December 2017 • Washington, DC

What I liked

I loved many thing. I loved that I got to travel with my job. I love that I could research education in reference to marginalized students. And I love that in my own way, I am helping solve the education equity issue because I am putting more information into the world that reaffirms that our education system has a problem.

What I wish was different

I wish I would have been able to do more work outside the office. While the experience was unmatched, I was at a desk from 9-5 and that can result in a lot of procrastination and unproductively.

If this internship interests you, try to come in with prior research experience. If I hadn't had completed a research project the summer before working here, I would've had a hard time completing my duties here. Also, do your research on education policy and terminology. I had to do a lot of catching up once I got here.
