The Office of the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury is responsible for the audit of state and local governmental entities and participates in the general financial and administrative management and oversight of state government. The Office is led by Comptroller Jason E. Mumpower, a constitutional officer who is elected by the Tennessee General Assembly.
Our purpose at the Comptroller’s Office is to make Tennessee work better by doing our part in investigating, researching, and communicating on public policy, as well as performing audits at the local and state levels. Our division of Local Government Audit is responsible for the annual audits of Tennessee’s 95 counties. Our division of State Audit conducts financial and compliance audits, performance audits, information systems audits, and more.
