What I liked

I liked the connection I was able to building with my campers and homeowners and be able to spread the word of God in a fun and meaningful way!

What I wish was different

I wish there was more down time to sit and reflect or unwind.

Advice

To always remember that what you are doing is not for your own personal gain, but a part of a much larger picture. Stay humbled and know that everything that you are doing, you are doing it for a reason and to keep pushing through even when times get hard.

Summer Staff

What I liked

It was challenging, exhilarating, and incredible. I got to lead middle and high school youth groups in rebuilding homes damaged by Hurricane Harvey with just one week of training and no prior experience, so I was able to see God stretch me and call me to beyond what I was qualified for. I got to lead chapel for and relationally pour into the youth on their mission trips, and see God’s love overflow into lives that needed it. It was harder than anything I’ve ever done before, but also wildly rewarding, and I grew a lot.

What I wish was different

I wish there’d been more sleep.

Advice

Don’t come in with expectations; just let God shape you and guide you wherever and however he wants. That goes for everything, but especially a summer with TEAMeffort.
