Camp Counselor

What I liked

Being able to interact with the children. We were able to take them on educational field trips each Tuesday and Thursday along with doing other activities throughout the week. Each week had a different theme and the activities and field trips correlated with the theme. The other camp counselors and I worked together to plan all of it and we became very close throughout the summer.

What I wish was different

We had a few issues with a parent that made the job far more stressful then it needed to be. Summer camp is supposed to be a safe, fun, laid-back environment and there were a few times where we struggled to keep it that way. Ultimately, my coworkers and I were able to get through it together.

Advice

Even when things get difficult, stick with it if it's something you really care about.
