I was surrounded with other students who have the same interest as me. Being on campus at CVI Stanford was such an amazing experience, hearing many seminars as well as being part of a research team.

Make sure to put in the work. You get out what you put in. Do not be discouraged to apply for internships with top names, go out there and put yourself out there.

I think a lot of the logistical processes could have been streamlined.

The Bergmann lab is an amazing place to work! Everyone is the lab is a great coworker and mentor, the research is engaging, and there are lots of opportunities to learn new skills.

What I wish was different

I wish I had been better prepared to jump into my research, because the time pressure creates problems for the project.

It was a positive working environment where I had the opportunity to learn leadership skills from other college students from around the United States.

What I wish was different

I wish there were more breaks in between shifts because sometimes our break was our lunchtime or dinnertime meaning that we were still supervising the children during that time so it was not a complete break.

Take naps and take your break times to avoid burning out.

More preparation and explicit description of what I would be doing, and more being able to work with someone experienced in the field of residential education

Ask questions even if it seems like everyone knows what they're doing, because they won't necessarily tell you what's going on, and you can be assured that no one actually knows what's going on except a few people.
