Seminole Gaming & Hard Rock International

Ecommerce Intern

June - August 2023 • Davie, FL

What I liked

I loved the opportunity I was given here at Hard Rock to grow as a professional and begin building my career. Everyone at the company was always there for me with open-arms and was always willing to offer support where it was needed. I always looked forward to coming in each day, not knowing what task would be on deck for that day. It was a really good hands-on experience that gave me a glimpse into the professional world. I also loved all of the connections I made through this company- it was extremely beneficial to be able to see all of the different departments and what they do.

What I wish was different

I live about an hour away from the office, so the commute was hard at times but my team was very understanding of this which was nice. Although this was sometimes hard, it was always nice coming into the office where everyone always had a smile on their face and was excited to be there.

Advice

One piece of advice I would share to other interns is to make the most out of the experience. It is so important to learn and grow your knowledge as much as you can during the internship. Never be afraid to ask questions when needed! Everyone is willing to be there for you when needed and, remember, no question is a "stupid question"! Make conversations with everyone in the office, not just your team! It's important to meet new people and make as many connections as possible. And... don't forget to smile! - Come in each day with a positive attitude and maximize the opportunity!

Diversity Equity and Inclusion Intern

September 2023 • Davie, FL

What I liked

A focus on the big picture made understanding my duties much easier. It is not a regular internship, you are given the responsibilities of an actual team member. The entire team is very dedicated and work together closely to reach their mutual goals, which is an educational thing to experience. There is opportunity to grow and find real direction in your time here, the amount of experience and knowledge this team has will change and mold you!

What I wish was different

I do wish there were more outside areas to work, fresh air is so good for your mind! Daily walks outside can combat that, it's very common to see groups of people taking a stroll outside the building.

Advice

Ask questions. In order to both be of proper assistance and get the best experience possible, you should leave any shyness or fear at the door. Always ask for clarification or help if you need it. Explore all opportunities available to you. Make time for one on ones for everyone on the team, they are all very experienced in a myriad of different things that will be helpful to you. I cannot express enough that you need to communicate with the team! You will learn so much if you do. Speak up if you have ideas!

Human Resources Intern

September - December 2023 • Davie, FL

What I liked

Interning for Seminole Hard Rock Support Services was a truly a great experience and the best internship I have participated in. The environment in the office and on property is vibrant and the team members are ones to look up to. My favorite part of the program was the balance between mentorship and allowing space for the interns to make decisions. One grows a lot more professionally this way and I feel much more prepared for the workforce stepping out of this program because of this.

What I wish was different

While its arguable that most internships last also only a semester, if I could change anything, it would definitely be the duration of the program. I wish it would have been longer as i had such a great time and that way one can learn more and build more relationships.

Advice

This internship program is not one where you will make copies and grab coffee for your leaders. You will put to work and challenged like a regular team member, so my advice is to take the most out of the experience. Network and learn as much as you can while simultaneously making sure to keep a work-student life balance if you are still in school.

Aviation Intern

June - August 2023 • Fort Lauderdale, FL

What I liked

I appreciate the organization's culture, as it serves as a welcoming place for new employees and fosters collaboration amongst employees throughout the organization. My team is supportive both in regards to any questions I had within or outside of the workplace, and is always eager to provide me assistance, teach me new skills, and allow me the autonomy to learn. The aviation department proves that a team is more than the sum of its parts, as everyone across each job role works in collaboration to ensure that tasks are consistently completed with high performance. I also enjoyed the changing external factor aspect of this department and the aviation industry, as it has developed my adaptability and resiliency skills.

What I wish was different

I wish that this internship was longer, because I feel as though a lot of the knowledge, skills, and abilities I have obtained comes with exposure to various experiences as they occur. This is in addition to the fact I enjoyed this experience so much!

Advice

Do not be afraid to ask questions, because the company has fostered a safe environment where everyone is willing to help where it is required. Asking questions will highlight your eagerness to learn and will open the door to new knowledge, skills, and abilities that you can carry with you into your future. I also suggest reflecting on your work days and documenting the things you have learned, due to the fact that there can be a lot of information to absorb as an intern. Additionally, be open minded to experimenting with different job roles. You never know what you might be interested in.

Brand Marketing Intern

January - April 2023 • Davie, FL

What I liked

I really liked the supportive and friendly team I got the chance to work with. Also loved that there is free Bagels for breakfast :)

What I wish was different

The only thing I would have wanted is the ability to have a hybrid work schedule

Advice

Be like a sponge and soak up as much information as you can. It might feel overwhelming at first because it is a massive brand, but it's a very insightful experience because there's so much to learn!

Marketing Intern

February - June 2023 • Hollywood, FL

What I liked

My favorite thing about this job really has been the idea of not having to be micromanaged and having to do the same thing every other day. the job here is unexpected and full of adventure. each day you are solving different problems and given responsibilities to complete on your own. Because of this, it drives you to take risks and make mistakes and learn for them.

What I wish was different

One thing I wish that could have been different is something that is definitely out of their control, but having a larger intern group (it was only two of us) to all learn together and go through this experience would have made the Internship experience complete.

Advice

One pec of advice i would share with everyone would be to take risks throughout your internships. wherever or whatever they are take that opportunity to push your own limits on what it is you can accomplish through that journey we essentially have unlimited free passes to make mistakes and grow through them.

IT Intern

April 2021 - June 2022 • Davie, FL

What I liked

What I enjoyed about working at Seminole Hard Rock Support Services is the learning opportunity given and the flexibility for full-time students. I had the opportunity to collaborate with different departments and teams. While working with each department, I had the capability to work on mini-projects and challenges. It was a fun experience to learn and gain guidance on how to be professional.

What I wish was different

There would be nothing that has to be different. The environment is great and the employees are amazing and willing to teach anything of your interest.

Advice

It's a great place to start and continue to grow in knowledge and experience! You will learn a lot of things that are not from a textbook and gain professional experience! Continue to engage with all employees and show your talent because that's the potential this company would like to see from you!

What I liked

I love everything about this Internship. It's honestly the best opportunity I've had to really take a deeper dive into the marketing world. You get to work with really exciting and important people in this company and they are so good at guiding you and helping you grow and find your interests in marketing whether it be branding, CRM, social media, PR, etc.. The brand is also so exciting and fun that I literally wake up happy to go to work. You also get a LOT of cool benefits such as a guitar hotel tour, discounts on most hard rock brand merch and restaurants, and TONS of free food ($40 per week allowance on cafeteria). I really enjoy the experience and 100% recommend it to anyone looking for a marketing internship in such an amazing industry!

What I wish was different

I wish the program could be a bit longer since full time students (like myself) can not work time and want to maximize the experience of this internship.

Advice

I would say to make the most out of the experience. In my case, it's only a 12 week program, so speak to as many people as you can, ask to be part of projects, and really just dive in head first from day one because there are so many opportunities to grow that you can take advantage of!

Entertainment Intern

September - November 2022 • Hollywood, FL

What I liked

I enjoy how hands on the experience has been throughout my time at Hard Rock. I have learned so much from my co workers and supervisors. I think this experience has truly prepared me to enter the music industry with enough knowledge to thrive, continue to grow and learn.

What I wish was different

I truly would not have asked for anything different. I have really loved this experience.

Advice

I would say that give your all to this internship. It's a fast pace industry, and can be hard to keep up. However, if you stay focused and determined it is one of the best and most fun industries/ experiences you will have.

Human Resources Intern

August - November 2022 • Davie, FL

What I liked

I loved that there are so many ways to grow as a professional and build your career from the ground up, If you are willing to work hard. The entire team was welcoming and made me feel supported since day one. I appreciated how my supervisors made me feel comfortable and made sure I had a full understanding of any project or assignment that was given to me. I looked forward to coming in every day not knowing what new skill or task I might be picking up that day. I enjoyed the opportunity I had in the internship to visit other properties and be able to shadow their HR team. Some of the perks of the internship include a "meal fob", which is a meal ticket that employee's get each week to use in the "break room." This saves all students time and money!

What I wish was different

The only downside of the internship experience is the commute to and from the office. I live about 1 hour away. However, this internship taught me the importance of having a work-life balance. My supervisor was understanding and flexible If I ever needed to come in late or take a day off.

Advice

One piece of advice from an intern is take as much as you can from the internship to grow your knowledge. Don't be afraid to ask questions to your managers, If you don't ask questions when you are unsure than you don't learn. Not all internships will take the time to promote the opportunities for grow within. Make sure to make conversations and network with everyone you meet in the process that way you start making professional relationships that can help your career. Show up each day with a positive attitude and display a strong ethic. The sky is truly the limit and what you put in you will get back. Don't forget to smile!

What I liked

I really like the benefits and the way we work on assignments. Everyone in the office is so nice and I’m learning a lot. The food is really good and it’s a great environment.

What I wish was different

At least one or two days work from home. Their should be more places to relax and work that is not an office cube.

Advice

Be confident and be ready to learn new things. And get ready for the office cubicle environment.

IT security Intern

September - November 2022 • Davie, FL

What I liked

Shadowing the employees and participating in meetings has been very fun and useful. It has provided me with the basis of how different security-related applications like Sailpoint identityNow, Proofpoint, and Crowdstrike work . I've gain a better understanding of cyber-security and different terms and jargon that are used in a professional setting. Whilst getting an inside look on how collaboration works within a corporate environment. I really enjoyed our trips to other Hardrock related locations, such as the guitar hotel in Davie, and the aviation office. It gives us interns an idea of how the company works outside of the office, and a closer look at the inner workings of different departments and how they work together to get things done.

What I wish was different

I wish there were more hands-on tasks for us to do. Sometimes there's a lot of waiting, which is understandable. But maybe incorporating mini projects that differ based on intern department would be helpful, that way we have more to do in between tasks.

Advice

Communicate with everyone, if you have any questions don't be afraid to ask, the employees are very kind and willing to help you understand. Be proactive, if you finish a task/project, communicate with your manager, to get the most out of your internship experience. Honestly, just have fun, network, and be proactive and gaining experience and a deeper understanding of how your role works.

IT intern

August - November 2022 • Hollywood, FL

What I liked

I like how my mentors gave me the ability to explore the entire department and talk with those with experience in those sectors. My mentors also gave me my projects with a proper timeline that let me understand what was expected of me and at what time.

What I wish was different

I wish I had a more opportunities to try out working from home to see if it was something that I valued.

Advice

Be open and friendly to everyone you will be in contact with during the internship. Everyone has something they are either working on or want to discuss. It just might be the thing that you want to be involved in the most.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Intern

September 2022 • Davie, FL

What I liked

This internship was truly such an amazing experience. I learned more than I ever imagined and met so many great people along the way. Everyone is welcoming and you quickly become a part of the team. My favorite part about this internship was the instant trust that they had in me. They trusted my input and ideas in every project from very early on, and it gave me a lot of confidence.

What I wish was different

The system that is used to clock in. My supervisor wanted to give me an option to work from home maybe once a week if I didn’t have any meetings. But we never figured out how to make that happen because the time clock is in the office. My timekeeper wanted me to physically clock in every day to ensure that my hours were inputted correctly which is completely understandable.

Advice

Don’t be afraid to talk to your co-workers! At first, I was intimidated by how long everyone had worked here and the amount of experience that they had with this company. But all of the employees are so kind and provided me with such a warm welcome. Just remember that we’re all working towards the same goal of continuing the company’s success!

What I liked

Quick responses by the HR team; it was a very quick. I have applied and the HR team reached out to me in the next week. I have done the interview with the HR team, and in less than three hours, I received the e-mail that noticed me " I was chosen for the interview."

What I wish was different

The schedule. I am currently enrolled full time in school so I do not have flexibility to do homework and assignments. I wish I had more time to do homework.

Advice

If you will attend classes know your schedule and plan for homework, and make sure you can contribute to 5 days a week or set a schedule what works best for you.
