Sanctuary for Families

legal studies intern

June 2020 • New York City, NY

What I liked

I really like how organized and helpful everyone is. They not only love and have passion for what they do, but they take the time to explain and support you no matter what role you are playing on this team. They are like a big family, and they are all dedicated to their clients and work extremely hard. They included me in their meetings and let me participate in the CSATF NY Conference planning committee. I honestly could go on and on about how great this internship was to the point where I continued another semester with them.

What I wish was different

It would have been a cool experience to be in person but obviously, the pandemic got in the way of that.

Advice

Ask to do extra projects, take part in conferences, meetings, groups etc. You can gain great experience and network with other agencies they partner with as well.

I enjoyed being able to see how a large nonprofit organisation operates.

What I wish was different

I would have liked to spend more time collaborating with others at the office.

Advice

Introduce yourself to others in the workplace; set up lunch dates to learn about what they do and how they got there.
