SafeSplash Swim School

Swim Instructor

June 2018 - August 2021 • Columbus, OH

What I liked

I love all the meaningful interactions I got to have with customers through this job. It encouraged me to develop necessary life skills such as patience when dealing with children and parents, dependability as part of a team, and a positive work ethic that makes people take notice. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Safesplash and have only good things to say of the wonderful management. Hours are flexible, coworkers will become your family, and it’s truly rewarding to see the students progress over time.

What I wish was different

Given that I have been with the company for several years, I would love to be able to take on a larger role starting this summer. I know age sometimes causes a delay in those things, but I have a few more experiences under my belt that I think would make me qualified, and I look forward to approaching management with that possibility!

Advice

Make it your own! You are becoming an essential part of a child’s life and often times the 30 minute lesson is their favorite part of their week. Use that time to really get to know your students and help them accomplish what they want to achieve at a pace that pushes them but also builds their confidence in a healthy way. Have fun at work, make friends, and if you’re looking for a job where you can see your efforts shine and be celebrated by all, becoming a swimming instructor at Safesplash is definitely for you!
