Confidence is key. If your mentor asks if you can do something say that you can, if you don't know how to do something you can always ask for help/clarification or you can look it up online. Nobody wants to give you a project to work on if you are unsure about your own abilities, and you will always surprise yourself with how qualified you actually are.
