I really enjoyed how Community Action (CA) strengthened my skills of project management, partnership development, communications, and logistics. I also really loved working alongside such great people, including the other seven CA Fellows, and my supervisors at the Pace Center.
What I wish was different
I wish the CA summer internship had been a little bit shorter – instead of 12 weeks, it could possibly have been 9 weeks. Also, there were some difficulties with on-campus housing, as we had to move three times: once to summer housing, again to interim housing, and then to our actual academic year dorms.
Advice
For those considering becoming a CA Fellow, I would say that it's definitely some meaningful work; you will learn how to communicate better with others and work on some impactful service and learning projects. Some advice I have would be to pursue this job only if you're willing to stay on campus all summer!
