Okland Construction Company, Inc.

IT Intern

May - August 2019 • Tempe, AZ

What I liked

Great onboarding process. Took you out to lunch on your first day with the rest of the team members. The projects were value-added projects too.

What I wish was different

Around July the company didn't have anymore projects for me to work on, so I was pretty much done working. But they wanted me to keep putting time in, so I did less and less actual work every day.

Advice

The interview process was pretty chill. You just need to prove that you're a hard worker and will bring value to the position you fill to be hired.

What I wish was different

I can't really complain about anything from this job, so there is nothing that I feel should have been different.

Advice

One piece of advice that I would share about this experience that applies to all internships is to make sure that you go wanting to learn and do your best because even if you don't get a job offer, making connections is so important!

Construction Project Management Intern

May - August 2019 • Lehi, UT

What I liked

Okland is an amazing company! They treat you like an employee and give you real responsibilities. You are actually contributing to the project as an intern and will give you more responsibility if you ask. If you want to try something new like help the trades or learn to schedule they will let you. When you work at Okland you will have a remarkable experience.

What I wish was different

They took a while to let me know I had an internship with them, but it was a great experience. You get out of your internship what you put into it.

Advice

Ask questions and work hard. Also, if you don't know how to do something ask and then take notes in how to do it so you don't forget. Keep a to do list of your tasks, because there is a lot to keep track of.
