OCHIN

Release Program Management Intern

January - May 2023 • Portland, OR

What I liked

The inclusion culture at OCHIN was amazing. The team at OCHIN wants to see you succeed at what you do and wants you to be a part of the bigger picture. They motivate you to learn skills that you are interested it. Furthermore they also allow you to pursue EPIC related certifications, all on company costs. The company culture is beautiful, they have monthly and weekly huddles on different topics/agendas were all employees come and connect with each other.

What I wish was different

I wish I had more time or the situation was better for them to keep me full time as they really appreciated my work and the whole team was amazing. There was an iteration of a previous project that I was a part of coming up and I honestly wanted to be a part of it to better serve OCHIN and its members.

Advice

I advice everyone to not care or worry about what the future holds and be honest and dedicated to the current work/scenario you are in. Hard work pays off, I knew I wasn't going to be a part of this company after my graduation but I still worked with the utmost commitment and because of that I made such meaningful relationships within the company and also grew as a person myself.

Learning Enhancement Coordinator Intern

June 2021 • Myrtle Point, OR

What I liked

I enjoyed the remote ability of this internship. It allowed me to be around my family and friends, while still being able to work. I enjoyed all of my co-workers who made OCHIN feel like home and gladly answered all of my questions.

What I wish was different

I wish there were in-person elements to the company so I could sometimes interact face-to-face.

Advice

Network! Do not feel constrained to only interact with the people you directly work with. Be curious and get to know people and what they do.

Communications Intern

May - August 2019 • Portland, OR

What I liked

Working for a company doing such good things for the nation's health center was a first-rate experience in what it means to be engaged in equity work on a daily basis. I loved that it was a good company that is constantly working on how it can do better. The staff were incredibly personable and amazing mentors.

Advice

Always ask questions, of everyone around you. Even if it seems like they don't have the job you're looking for you still might learn something valuable from them or learn about a job you never knew existed!
