What I liked

I was treated well, my working hours were very flexible, the work I was doing contributed directly to my future career path goals --and at the end, I had produced considerable research results to present at conferences throughout the rest of the year.

I was working on a independant project so my work was very self-driven with semi-flexible hours.

I wish had better guidance from my research mentor.

Advice

Its a learning experience for everyone so you cam do research even id you feel like your unprepared.

What I liked

I loved meeting the women who ran the gift giving office at school and knowing how the gift giving process was done. There's a lot of work and people that go into making my college experience possible and that money should not be wasted! I really appreciated the outlook this job gave me and the technical skills that I acquired by turning physical files into digital files.

What I wish was different

I wish that I was offered on campus housing so that I didn't have to pay for off-campus housing over the summer. If not offered off campus housing, I wish that I was offered free meals at the marketplace for lunch.

Advice

I would say that to work this job you must be able to focus and produce quality work at a fast pace!

This was a great experience to learn about what it would be like to be an admissions officer following an 8-5 work schedule.

A more structured daily schedule.

Be open and take it day by day. Research is slow process and it is ok to mess up and learn.

I had a great time working in the Office of Student Life this summer coordinating OxyEngage. I got to learn a lot more about the administration behind Oxy and be a part of orientation experience for incoming students.
