Summer New York Tech Maker Academy Coach
August 2021 • New York City, NY
What I liked
This experience was remote which allowed me to spend less time worrying about being late but on the material that was going to be displayed on any given day.
What I wish was different
I would have liked it if the communication between the student, and coach was a bit better. Sometimes students will disappear for long periods of time and it ruins the experience for other students.
Advice
This is an amazing internship which really teaches you how to manage time, communicate, and create ideas.

What I liked
I like that I was giving chance to do something similar to my major. Editing videos and social media.

FSL Student Coordinator
June 2018 • Old Westbury, NY
What I liked
I really enjoyed how the internship broadened my opportunities to work with different departments, groups of people and students. It really helped me to get my name and my brand out onto NYIT's campus and in our community,
What I wish was different
I wish that there were certain projects that I managed my time and work better for. When you're in charge of large programming based projects, you are the one who is probably most hard on yourself and there were moments where I wondered if I was giving it my all.
Advice
This experience was one of the most challenging things I've ever done in college. This forced me to get out of my comfort zone and take part in activities and tasks I never imagined I ever would. But at the end of it all, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. This internship provided so many "real-world" scenarios and I learned so much about myself and how to work with a diverse group of individuals and communities.

What I liked
I liked the opportunity to meet all the incoming freshman and show them around the school. I had really integral conversations with them about campus life and also how they should tackle their classes. Speaking with them gave me a newfound love for the school but also gave them a determination to do their best.
What I wish was different
I wished that the orientation process could have been longer. When I was a freshman the orientation process was overnight. It allowed for students to experience what it would be like to dorm and also gave more opportunities to make new friends.
Advice
If you want to be an orientation leader, one piece of advice that I would give would be to learn how to be open and friendly even when you dont feel your best. It means everything to the students when you appear happy to see them and remain helpful.
