I got to write a legal brief and work on some ongoing pro-bono cases which was really cool.

Recruiting Intern
May - August 2018 • Washington, DC
What I liked
I enjoyed the location! I was in Chinatown DC. There was so much food!
I also really enjoyed the atmosphere of the office. I created great relationship with the HR director, Administrative assistants, the office manager, and the lawyers in the office.
I worked on on- campus recruiting, and event management for the current summer interns. The funding for our events was great, we really could make the events great because there was a high budget.
What I wish was different
I wish I had more work. I go to work to work and learn! There were multiple days where they didn't have any work, but they wanted me to stay. I felt bad because I was being paid.
Also my "contract" when I was hired I was asked to stay on till October. At the beginning of August i emailed multiple people asking about the status of my "contract" due to the move into the new office and I was not assigned a desk. No one responded to any of my emails, this made me suspicious. The week before I started school I was asked to come speak with the HR director, I was laid off (there was never enough work for me). I wasn't hurt but surprised in the unprofessionalism of everyone in an INTERNATIONAL business.
I pay for everything in my life, and rely on holding a job. This really messed up my plans for the approaching semester. I was not applying to other internships, believing I had mine secured. I am still searching for a job, which is now hard to obtain due to internship positions being filled for the semester. I feel "burned" by this organization.
While in this office it felt very unorganized and filled with passive aggression. I am happy for the experience, but also happy I could leave.
Advice
Always be proactive. Be on the look out for potential jobs, you may need to apply quickly.

Legal Intern
June - August 2018 • New York City, NY
What I liked
The environment was very welcoming, my coworkers were helpful and friendly. I learned a lot about the inner-workings of law firms and had the opportunity to interact with some of the top lawyers in the United States.
What I wish was different
I wish I was able to work part-time during the school semester, but I study in Boston and the firm is in New York.
