The organization, the mission of the organization (changing lives through challenge and adventure), my coworkers, the work setting (North Cascades), my students, making an impact on others, the money (after 13 years working there I make more money there than at most other jobs).
What I wish was different
I wish I had had more days off after work ended and before school started. I was exhausted coming in to the semester.
Advice
Working for Outward Bound has made me a better person and I love it. It is very loooong work hours, few days off, and for years after you start, the monetary pay will be very low. But I love the outdoor setting, I love being around other staff who tend to be kind-hearted, compassionate, and good at communicating. If you can afford to have a job that is seasonal and doesn't pay very much, I highly recommend this one.
