Software Engineering Intern

May - August 2023 • Dayton, OH

What I liked

I worked in the Measurement and Control Solutions division in Dayton, OH. The manager and team were very friendly and were willing to help the best they could.

What I wish was different

Would've been nice to meet other interns, at least those in Ohio. This may be more team specific, but more mentorship would have been helpful as well.

Advice

Come in with an open mind and don't be afraid to ask questions. This company is a great place for a first internship.

Utilities Worker

May - August 2018 • Amherst, OH

What I liked

It was interesting to work in a machine shop and see the amount of work that goes into a product through the production of its individual parts. Everyone was very nice and helped me whenever I had questions.

What I wish was different

Some of the tasks seemed unimportant and like they were made up on the fly. Sometimes I would have to sweep the floor while waiting for something else to do, so I wish that I would have always had a task to complete and not have had to do less meaningful tasks while waiting for a new task.

Advice

I had to do a lot of specific tasks over and over again, so you should be fine with having to repeat the same, sometimes monotonous tasks on a weekly basis. If you are okay with this and get along with other people well, you should have a good time at this job.
