I loved this internship and if I had the chance to do it again, I totally would! The boss was accommodating and probably the sweetest person I’ve ever met. She cares about her interns and does the best she can to make sure they get the most out of the internship that they can. You get really good hands-on experience with event management, especially with all of the behind the scenes work that goes into a successful event. If event planning is something that interests you, do not miss this opportunity.
What I wish was different
I wish we had more teammates. We were a little short staffed and the workload was quite heavy. It was a great experience but it would have been nice to have a few more people helping out to save some stress on everyone else’s part including the boss. Even though we had less people on staff, I appreciate that our boss took the time to make sure that everyone on the team would be beneficial to the summer program.
Advice
Be prepared to put in the work. This was an extremely active internship. There is no such thing as a set schedule and you will likely work hours that you don’t necessarily want to (i.e early mornings and late nights). This is characteristic of the industry however so it’s a great opportunity to get used to it.
