I absolutely loved that through this job, I was able to help college students connect to the outdoors. The mission of L.L.Bean of sharing the love of the outdoors absolutely shone through in the quality products, services and deals I was able to provide. Students were really receptive of the products and were just as excited about my job as I was!
What I wish was different
Keeping track of engagement on posts was challenging at times. I feel as though the process was smooth, but I was unprepared to handle the occasional large influx of comments and tracking of giveaways. Additional training on how to use social media as a marketing tool could be beneficial for students who are used to using it primarily for entertainment.
Advice
The best way to succeed in a position like this is to be authentic to yourself. Don't worry too much about what others are doing or posting, because they are not you!

Design and Marketing Intern
August 2020 • Portland, OR
What I liked
Newbridge Marketing Group has been so flexible and respectful of my school schedule. Being a full-time student, it is often difficult to balance school, work and a social life. Working at Newbridge always makes me feel like my time is respected and with the emphasis that school comes first. Because the team is so flexible with my hours, I am always able to work on my own time line provided I complete all my tasks to the highest standard of quality.
What I wish was different
Nothing! I love it here!
Advice
One piece of advice that I have is don't be afraid to speak up and give your ideas. One thing I love the most about working for a smaller company is that everyone gets to chip in.

Finance & Marketing Intern
January - May 2020 • Portland, OR
What I liked
I really enjoyed the fact that working as an intern at NMG actually felt like I was working for the agency - not that I was just somebody's assistant! I received guidance while working on important projects in both the finance and creative space. The projects I created were actually used in real marketing programs for brands I admire and love such as Miyoko's Creamery. There is no better hands-on experience than helping to bring a marketing program to fruition. The staff is also AWESOME! I felt welcomed by everyone and despite most people working remotely NMG still feels like a tight-knit community.
Such a great experience to find out if you're interested in working for a marketing agency.
What I wish was different
I can't think of anything!
Advice
My biggest piece of advice for interns is to not be afraid to ASK - whether that be asking for more projects or just asking questions. Most employees would love the help and it shows your drive to learn more when you go to them first. The experience is also helpful in figuring out if this is the career for you, so you might as well ask for as much experience as possible! Also, asking questions is not looked down on and any question is a valid question. Most people don't know what they're doing when they start out too!

Student Ambassador Development & Marketing Intern
January 2021 • Portland, OR
What I liked
I liked that NMG was a company composed of individuals that allowed me to hit the ground running and welcomed me as a member of their team without a second thought. The NMG team culture is one that values teamwork, individuality, and one that enables each member to collectively push each other to be the best they can be. I especially enjoyed my specific mentorship by Ruthie and thank her for giving me the chance to be part of the NMG team. In my brief time interning with NMG, I feel as though I have formed valuable and solid connections with members of the NMG that will help generate my success in the future. I thank TJ for his mentorship and guidance as I navigate my future career path.
What I wish was different
I wish my time being a part of the team could have been longer, but I am excited to continue helping NMG in any possible way moving forward as I pursue the final credits needed for my undergraduate degree.
Advice
Anyone who is interested in a college marketing agency or just learning more about NMG company culture will gain valuable insight and professional skills when interning or working for them. I highly suggest this company and all of its employees!

Social Media Marketing Intern
March - December 2019 • Portland, OR
What I liked
I loved the small team and hands-on experience I got during my internship with NMG. The team is small but mighty, and I got to work closely with most members of the team on various projects. I also loved the amount of responsibility I was given as an intern. I got to work on client accounts, manage my own projects, and create new projects for myself to add value to the agency. The thing I liked the most was that I got to return to the agency after I graduated as a full-time employee!
What I wish was different
Nothing! It was an overall positive experience.
Advice
My advice based on this experience for all students studying marketing is to find an internship or job before graduating with an agency. Agencies are the best way to get hands-on experience working with a variety of brands and teams to really help you learn what you'd like to do with your marketing degree upon graduation.

L.L.Bean Student Ambassador
August - December 2019 • Clinton, NY
What I liked
I absolutely loved my experience working with Newbridge Marketing Group as a student ambassador - the interview process was smooth, and from the moment I accepted the job through to the end of the program I felt supported by the Newbridge employees overseeing this account. The opportunity to train and gain valuable skills in marketing, content creation and direct experiential marketing with members of the L.L.Bean influencer team and the NMG team is one I'll never forget and a very fond memory from my senior fall. The pay in addition to the amazing included gear from the brand exceeds industry standard!
What I wish was different
The remote nature of this program and communications with managers and fellow ambassadors took some getting used to, but the NMG team had it all on-lock, everything ran like a well-oiled machine and I never felt left behind or confused - i enjoyed virtually meeting all of my fellow ambassadors, supervisors, and actually getting to meet L.L.Bean's mobile selling team in person when they came to campus.
Advice
I wish I had discovered Newbridge Marketing Group and their Campus Collaborative database sooner - it's a great resource for students and student ambassador jobs especially are so much fun- they offer a truly unique opportunity to gain direct marketing experience as a liberal arts student - plus, I have yet to hear about a college job that pays so well, isn't a burden on a schedule and is so much fun! After graduation, I was able to get a marketing job and I believe that is in large part due to the experience I gained from working with Newbridge on this program!
