I like the flexibility of hours, in that I can fit in work around my own schedule.

It would be nice to be in person more but due to the pandemic I was and still am remote.
Advice
I would definitely recommend keeping a good schedule for yourself for time management because this position is a make your own hours position and it is easy to fall behind on work, especially over the summer.

I love all my lab members and that there's two different branches, so if you like the lab but want to lean more towards neuroscience or psychology there's options for you.
What I wish was different
I wish I had personally asked to be more active in projects sooner. Everyone is very supportive and willing to help.
Advice
Go for it! Labs are very understanding if you don't have any prior experience as an undergraduate, and try to find one to stay in for the long run. It may take some time, so start sooner rather than later.

This job is not your typical academic year RA. As an SA you will be working a lot behind the Resource Center desk and dealing with students who are not from NYC (other schools). You will not be running programs or building community, it is a lot more of office logistics and making sure everyone is staying safe and respecting the building.

I liked the variety of tasks I was given very interesting and I was able to learn a lot of new things in different areas related to social media management and the communications department.

I wish there were more strict deadlines so I can learn to improve on my time management. Also, I wish there was a bit more structure in my responsibilities so they were less ad-hoc.

I really enjoyed the team environment that was developed throughout the summer. I was able to make many connections throughout the university during my time in this role.
What I wish was different
I wish that I was able to have a paying, on-campus job at the same time but this proved to be difficult with my schedule.
Advice
Work hard and be there for your teammates. The job was enhanced for me as a result of my relationship with my coworkers.
