I loved being able to work hands on with the patients! By far my favorite volunteer/shadow experience as the Occupational Therapists were highly professional, fun, and educational. They guided my learning with real life examples, allowed me to assist in minor details of treatment, and were flexible with my schedule. I am planning on returning this summer!
What I wish was different
I only wish for more time with this clinic - I loved it!
Advice
If you are considering Occupational Therapy, or any pediatrics career, volunteer here. You will encounter a unique variety of skill levels, ability levels, and learning styles. This is a great way to get a lot of shadowing/experience hours easily and gain the necessary tools for working with children with disabilities.
