I enjoyed working for an organization whose mission fits very closely with my personal and professional goals. NAB works to end social isolation for individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease by pairing them with compassionate and committed college students. By helping to expand the organization's marketing presence, I felt like I was contributing towards a cause I believed in. As someone who has personally witnessed and sought to reduce my grandparents' loneliness, I wanted to do the same for Alzheimer's patients by creating engaging social media content and pulling in more followers.
What I wish was different
Because NAB is a small nonprofit, and because it is primarily run by undergraduate students, everyone had to multitask and wear multiple hats. I sometimes wished that I had another intern to help me with some of my graphic design tasks. I also completed my internship during a shift in roles, as some people were moving out and others were moving in, which is probably why I felt like I was handling things on my own.
NAB is always looking for more motivated college students to join their ranks, and there are a multitude of different roles available, so don't hesitate to reach out to me or anyone else listed on the website if you'd like to learn more!
